Aryan Papers – A Chance to Survive During the Holocaust (PL, EN)
25.06.2025 - 15:00 / Galicia Jewish Museum, ul. Dajwór 18“Henryk Reiss must cease to exist” – this is the title of the newest temporary exhibition at the Galicia Jewish Museum. The exhibition presents the fate of the family of Polish Jews Henryk, Łucja and Elżunia Reiss, who survived the Holocaust thanks to the so-called Aryan papers. The Reiss family posed as Poles and Christians, hiding their Jewish identity. What were these Aryan papers? Did obtaining such documents guarantee the Jews’ survival? Katarzyna Zimmerer, Katarzyna Kocik and prof. Jacek Leociak will discuss the hiding of Jews outside the ghettos. The discussion will be led by Jolanta Drużyńska.
This is an accompanying event organized by the Galicia Jewish Museum.
