How did Kazimierz become Jewish? (PL)
25.06.2025 - 11:00 / Galicia Jewish Museum, ul. Dajwór 18It is a common conception that, since its establishment a few hundred years ago, Kraków’s Kazimierz district was inhabited by Jews. Is that so? Was Kazimierz, once a town separate from Kraków, always Jewish? In this special lecture, Prof. Stefan Gąsiorowski (Institute of Jewish Studies of the Jagiellonian University of Kraków), author of many books on the history of Polish and Krakovian Jews, will explain the circumstances in which Kazimierz became a place of Jewish settlement.
This is an accompanying event organized by the Galicia Jewish Museum in cooperation with the Institute of Jewish Studies of the Jagiellonian University.
