Jewish Theater in Kazimierz Before the Second World War (PL)
25.06.2025 - 14:00 / Hillel Gimel Kraków Student Club, ul. Izaaka 5The forgotten, yet extremely vivid Jewish scene in pre-war Krakow was full of emotions, Yiddish, and creative muscle. During this lecture, we will take a look at how Jewish theatre developed in Krakow before 1939. We will answer questions on who created it, where the performances took place, which topics they covered, and why theatre was such an important part of the Jewish cultural life. We will take a look behind the historic scenes and try to feel the atmosphere of pre-war Kazimierz to discover what is left of this tradition and how it can be rebuilt today.
