Kuzmir / Kazimierz: Between Life and Trauma (PL)
25.06.2025 - 18:00 / JCC Krakow, ul. Miodowa 24A discussion on Kazimierz – a place that has remained a wound left after the Jewish community was persecuted and removed from their home.. Interestingly, Kazimierz has recently become a witness of the renewal of Jewish life but in a new context. It attracts not only the Jewish orthodox community which follows a religious route, but also war refugees from Ukraine and Israel, who are seeking a safe place to live and engage in a Jewish community. How to live in the shadow of wars – both historic and current? How do we deal with the enduring trauma of a place? And what can we learn from a district which has such a rich, beautiful, and difficult history? We will discuss these topics with Kazimierz denizens: journalist and translator, Katarzyna Zimmerer, theater and film actress, Marta Bizoń, and philosopher, Prof. Jan Woleński. The meeting will be led by Karolina Przewrocka-Aderet, journalist and cultural programming coordinator at JCC Krakow.
