Andrew Melchior is a British German creative technologist, producer, and artist renowned for pioneering the convergence of music, immersive media, and emerging technologies. He collaborates with artists, technologists, and researchers to craft innovative digital experiences.

Melchior’s career commenced at EMI, where he managed the band Elbow and collaborated with David Bowie to support the launch of BowieNet —an early artist-led internet service provider that offered fans unprecedented digital engagement.

His notable projects include serving as the technical advisor for Björk’s immersive virtual reality exhibition, Björk Digital, and producing her first VR album, Vulnicura VR.  As Chief Technology Officer for Massive Attack, Melchior led groundbreaking initiatives such as the Fantom app, which generated interactive remixes based on user inputs, and the innovative encoding of the Mezzanine album into synthetic DNA – a fusion of music and biotechnology.

In 2024, he collaborated with philosopher Timothy Morton to release “Come Fast From The Dark,” a composition that sonifies an 8-billion-year-old fast radio burst, blending cosmic phenomena with philosophical insight.

Melchior’s work exemplifies a Renaissance approach, integrating art, science, and technology to redefine the boundaries of creative expression.
